Brewers,
Thanks for coming down to DTC last night for the October club meeting. Great to see everyone and I had some very good beers from members this month - great work. Thanks to Allan for performing the honours.
Points of note

Oktoberfest at Gary's house, about 5 minutes from Warwick train station. Details are up on the club website along with the sign up form. This is a family event so sign up and bring the family along for a great day of Beer and Meat. Don't forget to bring your own stein!!!

Mead, cider, sours comp is to be held in November with people’s choice at our November meeting and BJCP the following weekend. Andrew will put up the allowable styles shortly, but you should be able to work it out yourself. Don't forget to register your entries for the comp at the competition website. There is still plenty of time to put down something for this competition. Sean from Erosion Meadery has offered to sponsor this comp with some great mead related prizes

The November meeting is also our club AGM. This is a pretty quick AGM and should be sorted before the competition starts. One of the important parts of the AGM is to form a new committee for the coming year. All positions on the committee are open for nominations and some details for the positions and an online nomination form will be up shortly. This club is run by the volunteers so the more people we have that are committed to helping out the work the work can be shared. The committee positions up for grabs are President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer, Events coordination, competition director and communications director

Dan Turley from WABA gave us a quick talk on the Freo BeerFest. WABA have a stall at the event where they showcase beers from local brewers and try and get a few interesting things on tap that you won’t find elsewhere. In previous years the club has supported WABA at the event by individuals volunteering their time to man the stall for a shift or two. This year Freo BeerFest is on the weekend of 11 and 12 of November and there are two shifts available each day. If you volunteer to serve you will need an RSA qualification (which you can do for minimal cost on line). In return for your efforts you'll get entry to the Freo BeerFest on the day of the shift and a pass for another session. Dan is going to send on some more detail in the next week or so and I'll get these posted on FB. If you are keen get in touch with Dan once we have more details.

The national amateur competition, AABC, is being judged in Perth this weekend at the Cockburn ice rink. Sean J is organising this and is looking for a few more stewards to be there on the weekend. If you haven't stewarded at a competition before this would be a good one to get down to. You';ll assist the judges with in their jobs and get to taste entries and listen to judges feedback. As you've got to place in the state comps to qualify for the nationals the beers should be pretty bloody good. Sean has posted some things on FB so contact him directly if you can help out.

The club Christmas function will be held on the afternoon of 16 December from 2pm at DTC. This is a no-children event so get a babysitter and bring your better half down for the afternoon. The club will provide food and a bar tab

UPDATE: The BJCP exam planned for December has been cancelled. Gary is holding another BJCP exam and training for that. I think it is to be in December but I didn't get all the details. You can contact the club direct or notify interest via FB is you want to participate. I'll add more details as I find out.
